The problem
Self-employed professionals and small service businesses in Finland run operations across disconnected tools — invoicing here, expenses there, contracts in email, tax deadlines in their head. Quulio needed one platform covering invoicing, bookkeeping, taxes and compliance, contracts, and gig discovery, built for non-technical, non-finance-trained users and localized for Finland.
My approach
Backend
Nest.js/TypeScript API structured around invoicing, expenses, contracts, and business profiles, with a modular service architecture later developers could extend. Containerized with Docker.
Auth & access control
Google OAuth with role-based access control, separating end-user permissions from internal admin capabilities.
Admin dashboard
Built the internal interface for user management, performance metrics, and system configuration.
AI features
A message composer that drafts and rephrases with adjustable tone, and a support chatbot resolving routine questions without a human in the loop.
Frontend & localization
Next.js/TypeScript/Tailwind, fully responsive, with English/Finnish i18n across routing, content, and locale-specific assets. Hotjar for behavioral analytics.
